While experience in our sector is preferred, we provide on the job training to make sure you are confident to support our clients.

Our Support Workers provide support to our Aged and Disability clients across the Snowy Monaro region, working with our local Health and Community partners. This role provides our clients their clinical and day to day support needs to reach their goals.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist clients with accessing community resources and services.
  • Provide emotional and social support to clients, engaging in conversation and social activities.
  • Assist clients with mobility and transferring, using mobility aids if necessary.
  • Support clients with meal planning, preparation, and feeding if required.
  • Assist clients with household tasks such as cleaning, laundry, shopping and personal care if required.
  • Transport Clients to appointments and outings.

What you will need (essential):

Skills and Experience:

  • Qualifications in community services, disability, aged care or another relevant human services discipline OR willingness to undertake required training to at least Cert Ill level commencing within 6 months of appointment.
  • Experience working with vulnerable people and with people living with disability or elderly people.
  • Negotiation and mediation skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting the rights of all people to be treated with dignity and respect.
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting social and community inclusion.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working within a person-centred, trauma informed, supported decision-making and recovery frameworks.
  • Self-management skills to prioritise and manage time effectively, recognise and maintain professional boundaries, and reflect and learn from experience.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, setting and achieving shared objectives.
  • Computing skills in Microsoft Office software and experience using a Client Management System.
