Monaro Community First accepts the key role of caring for people, providing a high standard of support, and allowing each client to be an integral part of the community.

If you are interested in delivering a great service to people living with disability or assisting people aged 65 years and over, we would love to hear from you.

Most positions at Monaro Community First are casual and support hours and duties vary from week to week, depending on the needs of our service users. As such, hours cannot be guaranteed. Casual staff members are paid on an hourly basis under the Social, Community, Home and Disability Services Industry Award.

To be considered in our application process you will need the following:

  • ​Enthusiasm, initiative and a positive can-do attitude while understanding professional boundaries
  • Commitment to promoting the rights of all people to dignity, respect and inclusion
  • Patience and flexibility
  • Clear communication skills
  • Current Driver’s License
  • A Certificate III or IV in Aged Care or Disability or relevant experience in the field (desired but not essential) or a willingness to undertake relevant study

To work with us, you will need to obtain the following clearances:

  • NDIS Worker Check
  • Working With Children’s Check
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module certification of completion

Available roles

Support Worker

As a Support Worker you will be assisting people with their everyday tasks in their homes and in the community, enabling them to maintain their independence and wellbeing and to lead full and engaging lives.

The skills required and the duties vary with individuals’ ages and levels of disability and the service they are utilising.

Support Workers need to be physically able to undertake light housekeeping tasks and must have an absolute commitment to the rights of people’s respect, privacy, and confidentiality.

Our Support Workers provide support in these areas:

Social Support – helping individuals maintain a social life through home visits, assistance with shopping and other activities and community outings

Personal Care – helping individuals maintain a social life through home visits, assistance with shopping and other activities and community outings

Domestic Assistance – supporting practical tasks such as general housework, laundry, cooking and shopping

Respite Care -providing a break for carers by taking over the caring role for a short period – at the individual’s home, in the community or at our centre which may include overnight care
